Journey north to the lakes and boreal forest of Northern Minnesota. Explore Lake Superior, North America’s largest fresh water lake, onboard the Vista Queen while dining on a prime rib or champagne chicken dinner. We’ll stay one night in Duluth at the Hampton Inn located on Canal Park. The next morning we travel north, to discover what life was like as a lighthouse keeper in a remote Minnesota lighthouse.
The rest of the trip we’ll experience Ely, Minnesota, home of the famous Boundary Waters, which offers unique cultural and natural areas to explore. While in Ely, we will howl with wolf residents from the International Wolf Center located in the heart of the largest wolf population in the lower 48 states; visit Ted, Lucky, and Honey, the black bears who call the North American Bear Center home; and browse the unique shops provided by local artisans. Take time to explore the woods in search of blueberries or just sit back and enjoy scenic Shagawa Lake just outside your room at the Grand Ely Lodge. Whatever you do, this trip is about exploring nature and relaxing in luxury.
Fee: $550 per person/double occupancy; includes transportation, 3 nights lodging, admissions to all attractions, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner with lake cruise. Departure location to be announced. Registration deadline is July 10. Register early, lakeview rooms are limited!
