Picnic Shelter Reservations
Polk County Conservation Board offers 17 picnic shelters
for families and groups to enjoy within our parks.
Picnic shelters at Easter Lake Park, Fort Des Moines Park, Jester Park, Thomas
Mitchell Park, and Yellow Banks Park can be reserved
in advance for a fee of $40-$60 (see specific park for rates).
If you are requesting to have keg beer at the shelter, the deposit will then
be $100. Shelters vary in size and can accommodate up to 150 people.
If a shelter is unreserved for the day, they are available to park visitors on a
first-come basis.
Beer and wine are allowed in our county parks with the exception of Easter Lake
Park. At Easter Lake Park, beer and wine can be consumed only if a shelter has been reserved.
Reservations for shelters can be made on-line at
www.mycountyparks.com.Shelter reservations can not be made from November
1 - March 31. However, the shelters are available on a first-come, first-serve basis
dependent on weather.
